Am I grateful to someone? If so, to whom should I be grateful? Why do I want to express my gratitude to a person for his or her help and support in my life? These are few questions that to my mind, as I started to write this blog.
I think most of us when we pause for a moment and reflect on our life realize that without someone’s help we wouldn’t have achieved our life’s goals. Especially, we like to express our thanks to our family loved ones and friends who helped us to grow physically, mentally and spiritually in our lives. Probably, for some people, financial support was a great help in their lives.
In addition to our loved ones, there are few mentors in everyone’s life who helped and guided both directly and indirectly, when he or she needed direction in life’s journey. In my own life, if I make a list of people who deserve my gratitude it is going to be very lengthy one. Of course, my biological parents will be first on the list. But I was contemplating as to whose initial plan and purpose were that I should be getting the help and support all along in my life’s journey?
King David provided me answers to my questions, as he states that “For you formed my inward parts; You covered me in my mother’s womb. I will praise You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; Marvelous are Your works, Any that my soul knows very well. My frame was not hidden from You. When I was made in secret, and skillfully wrought in the lowest parts of the earth. Your eyes saw my substance, being yet unformed. And in Your book they all were written. The days fashioned for me, when as yet there were none of them. How precious also are Your thoughts to me, O God! How great is the sum of them! If I should count them, they would be more in number than the sand; When I awake, I am still with You (Psalm 139: 13-17 NKJ).”
First, I’m thankful to God for His grace. Second, I express my gratitude to my parents, sisters, and brothers. Yes, there are a number of mentors in my life to whom I’m grateful also. One of them is John Wesley, the founder of Methodism, who first provided Good News to our forefathers. If not for his ministry I don’t think today our family members would be Christians; therefore, I admire him. If you have any comments, please share it.
