As we know that the human uncertainty, that is, the quality or state of being uncertain, or something that is doubtful or unknown exist in all of us. Why are human beings skeptics, doubtful and distrustful in nature?
Today, for some reason a thought of “human uncertainty” crossed my mind; therefore, I decided to write on this topic. In fact, a quick research on this topic provided me very interesting results. The term “uncertainty” is used in various fields including finance, economics, insurance, psychology, sociology, philosophy, physics, statistics, engineering, and science, etc. However, I could not find the answers as to why “human uncertainty” exists? Or what is the root of it?
On the contrary, “certainty,” is the quality or state of being or feeling certain or a fact about which there is no doubt. No matter which field we refer to, ultimately the word “uncertainty and certainty” point to human natural behavior and one’s mindset.
With curiosity, in order to find the answers to human behavior of uncertainty and certainty nature, I searched the Holy Bible and found the answers. For instance, “LORD God commanded the man, “You are free to eat from any tree in the garden; but you must not eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, for when you eat from it you will certainly die (Gen.2:16-18 NIV).” But the serpent said to the woman “you will not certainly die. For God knows that when you eat from it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil (Gen.3:4-5 NIV).”
As we can see how the certainty turned out to be uncertainty in human nature. The root of uncertainty or doubtful nature was first introduced into the human mind by Satan. If this is the case, then how can we overcome the uncertainty and doubtful nature?
I think we can overcome the doubtful nature through the word of God as stated in the Holy Bible, “If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him. But let him ask in faith, with no doubting, for he who doubts is like a wave of the sea driven and tossed by the wind. For let not that man suppose that he will receive anything from the Lord (James 1:5-7 NKJV).”
I admire God’s servants who first showed us as to how to overcome uncertainty and become certain and confident through His word.
