Is there anything in life for free or without charge? It is human nature that whenever there is a free offer or gift, immediately we would like to have it. What is that free gift we have? What gift set us free once for all in our lives? Where did you get your free gift? How do we know that there is real freedom in our lives?
It took few years in my life to understand the real freedom that set me free from immoral actions that I commit. Today, as I sat to write a blog, two words “fear” and “freedom” came to my mind. As we know sometimes anxiety makes our lives miserable. On the contrary, freedom provides us the quality or a state of being free. What a difference it makes once we have the freedom.
Yes, we have the freedom, and in fact I personally felt “free” once for all, when I read Apostle Paul’s letter to Romans where he states that “For you did not receive the spirit of bondage again to fear, but you received the Spirit of adoption by whom we cry out, “Abba, Father.” The Spirit Himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God, and if children, then heirs—heirs of God and joint-heirs with Christ, if indeed we suffer with Him, that we may also be glorified together (Rom. 8:15-17 NKJV).” “There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus, who do not walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit. For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has made me free from the law of sin and death (Rom. 8: 1-2 NKJV).”
I am told that these verses changed John Wesley, the founder of Methodism, and he believed that salvation had to be “personal.” That is, a person must ultimately believe the “Good News” for himself or herself; no one could be in relation to God for another.
Yes, I got the freedom because of John Wesley and his ministry, who first provided this Good News to our grandparents and to us; therefore, I admire him. I am sure you also must have received the Spirit of life that set you free through the Good News shared by great people like John Wesley. If you have any thoughts or comments, please share it. Appreciated!
