Are There Milestones In Spiritual Journey?

What are the milestones you and I have achieved so far in our spiritual journey? Were there any crossroads to overcome to reach an important milepost? Did we come across with forks in the road of our spiritual journey in order to reach the final goal?

As we know that in the project management, “milestones” are tools that help us to achieve important tasks along scheduled projects’ timeline. Milestones identify the scheduled start or completion of major deliverables. When the critical path method (CPM) applied, milestones allow project managers to accurately determine whether or not the project is on schedule.

I think for believers in “living God,” milestones tools can also be applied in our spiritual journey. Of course, the first milestone would be our day of birth, and the last one is the death, which is set by God in our life’s journey according to “His will.” However, God scheduled timeline in our life, we have to achieve each given milestone to reach the final goal successfully. In fact, there are critical paths, crossroads, fork in this spiritual journey road that we have to overcome to achieve the final milestone, which is to be like Him (Eph. 5:1 NKJV). How confident you and I are in achieving the final milestone? Or, are we behind the schedule for achieving the final milestone?

For a number of years, I contemplated on apostle Paul’s statement, that is “when I was a child, I spoke as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child; but when I became a man, I put away childish things. For now, we see in a mirror, dimly, but then face to face. Now I know in part, but then I shall know just as I also am known (1 Cor. 13:11-12 NKJV).”

At this stage in our spiritual journey, I think apostle Paul’s above-referred statement should be clearly understood. It’s my hope that each believer in Jesus Christ is on schedule to achieve the final milestone in our life, which is to be imitators of Him, who has provided us His spirit in this journey to achieve the final goal successfully. Jesus Christ achieved the final milestone according to His father’s scheduled time and will. As believers, I’m sure we also can achieve the final milestone according to “His will.”

I thank and admire our great God-fearing servants who first provided us the “Good News,” and leading us to achieve the final milestone in our life’s journey on this earth.
