Do divine leadership principles and controversies differ?
Was there any visionary leader in the world without controversies, who believed in divine principles? This thought crossed my mind as I was preparing to write a blog post this morning. In short, one of the known facts of a true leader is that controversies can’t be avoided, but results will be revealed in due course.
Why principled leadership faces controversies in an organization, community, business or nation? I think most of the times human beings lack the insight to discern the visionary leaders’ long-term plans and motives. But history reminds us that later year’s principled leader’s controversies took opposite position, and generations were able to benefit from the leadership. I am one of the beneficiaries of that leadership.
Many examples can be stated, but my focus is on John Wesley, who was a great Christian leader. History tells us that in the 18th century, John Wesley in Great Britain faced with all kinds of controversies when he started “Methodism.” As we now know that his controversies turned out to be proven true, and its proof is the 21st century Methodist denomination in the world.
I think true leadership principle and controversies differ. Because visionary leaders have a divine principle focuses on long-term plan, while controversies of mortals with lack of insight are short- term ones. One of the lessons to be learned from great leaders like John Wesley is that principled leadership should ignore human controversies, and just focus on God-given the main objective and achieve it. As we know that John Wesley’s focus was to “save souls.” That is one of the reasons why I admire him. I am sure present-day leaders are also focused on the divine principles. I believe that if leaders are focused on divine principles, then human controversies should be ignored. If you have any thoughts on this topic, please share it.
