Is an old thing contrast to a new one? Is it possible to have both qualities at the same time in one’s life? Is a new thing better than an old one? If so, why?
Today is last day of the year 2017, in this frigid (4°F or -15°C) weather, a thought on the contrast between an old and a new thing prompted me to write this blog. As I reflected on our past lives and started to plan for future, I noticed a huge difference. That is, we don’t want to dwell on our old lifestyle but rather prefer a new one. Why is it so?
I think we hope or expect for the best in new life or future. Without trust, there is no hope and vice versa! Whom to trust? Can fellow human beings provide a new life for us?
As I contemplated on these thoughts, finally I reached the conclusion that there is none to trust other than our living God, who provides a new life to us every day according to His word as stated in the Holy Bible that “Through the LORD’s mercies we are not consumed, Because His compassions fail not. They are new every morning; Great is Your faithfulness. “The LORD is my portion,” says my soul, “Therefore I hope in Him! (Lam.3:22-24 NKJV)” Regarding the new life, Apostle Paul stated that “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold all things have become new (2 Cor.5:17 NKJV).” According to His word, with new life, a new heart is given to us as He stated that “I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit within you; I will take the heart of stone out of your flesh and give you a heart of flesh (Ezk. 36:26 NKJV).”
I noticed a transformed life makes one sing new songs with a new heart and spirit. I’m sure whoever believes in Son of God has a new life with an assurance of receiving it every morning. This is the hope believer has it for his/her future, and he/she trust in Him!
I admire a servant of God who first pulled our families from an old and filthy living, and showed us a new life. What a difference and blessing it was? Thank God for providing a new spirit and heart to us every morning.
Happy New Year!
